I can speak to the Axe-FX...sort of. Would help if I had a little more information from you about what you need.

1. You need a MIDI interface if you plan to use the PC Editor. I have a MIDISport 2x2.

2. What do you need in a foot controller? I went with the Liquid Foot Jr., because I wanted a full-featured LCD display, extensive IA capabilities, song and setlist modes, and phantom power. The LF Jr and the Gordius Little Giant were the only units that had everything I needed. The Little Giant looks like a septic tank and is much more expensive. Very happy with the LF Jr.

3. Do you need expression pedal capabilities? I have a Mission EP-1, which is a great choice if you want one that looks and feels like a wah.

4. With regard to monitoring, are you after ultimate portability or more sound pressure and dispersion? An in-ear setup can be rack-mounted with the Axe, meaning no extra stuff to carry. An FRFR monitor is preferable if you don't like IEM's or if you need stage volume. I am fortunate to always have my own monitor mix off the PA, so I just use that. Probably will spring for an IEM system at some point though.

bkd_guitarist, good info! Which power amp do you use? Some folks have recommended Freyette.

Do you know how Liquid Foot Jr. compares to Digitech's Controller2? I'll definitely be needing an expression pedal and will check that out.

I do have my own dedicated monitor on stage, but would also like to explore FRFR monitor for both home and stage use. An In-Ear set up is a great idea as well.

Which rack brand do you use?

The Control 2 does not have a MIDI Out, as far as I know, so I don't think you can use it to control the Axe-FX.

I don't use a power amp. I just run the Axe-FX direct into the PA with the amp and cab sims on. It sounds killer, as good as any high-end tube amp I've had, and I've had a few. For my personal situation, I wanted as portable a rig as possible. I wanted no external amps, cabinets, etc. If I'm going to lug all that stuff around, I might as well just go back to an amp. The Axe-FX gives me the tone of an amp with MUCH greater portability and ease of use.

I use a Gator 4 space rack bag.

bkd_guitarist, which controller do you use? Do you have a dedicated sound guy, and have you had any problems going directly to the board, especially with different sound guys?

I use the Liquid Foot Jr.

No issues whatsoever getting a quality sound in the PA. All I do before the gig is make sure the gain is set correctly at the board, and the channel EQ is flat. One of the great strengths of the Axe-FX is the consistency of the tone from one gig to the next.

You need the Control 2 with the GSP1101. It comes with the Cat5 cable. I dont think you need anything else unless you want a second expression pedal.

Of course if you wanna run it into an amp you'll need what you need but it goes nice right into the PA.

If i may ask? Wouldnt my GT-10 be a good floor unit for the Axe?
Just wondering as im using it now, with no programing to change
presets via midi.. so it should do all the expression pedal stuff too right?
I figured i would sell it, but maybe its a great 1/2 price floor unit
compared to the Liquid Foot? I already spent the $'s...so its easy to
just keep it.
