Well today was a new pedal day and a JDF2 Fuzz Face arrived for me in the post. I payed £50 so I can't complain and if im honest wasn't expecting much..
So my first Impressions - It is no where near as sensitive to pick attack as my JH-F1 Fuzz Face was.
It didn't interact with my wah pedal like the JHF1 either (It is fitted with a Foxrox Wah Retro Fit kit before anyone says anything)
There wasn't as much Fuzz on tap as I was hoping for but cranking the volume knob solves that but then you don't get a great clean up when rolling the volume back.
The JDF2 does clean up well with the roll back of a volume knob when the volume on the pedal isn't cranked and does give you great vintage clean tones which is one thing that's a must for me. However there is just something I can't put my finger on that I don't like about it..
To me it sounds more like a distortion pedal than a fuzz pedal I thought this Fuzz Face would sound warmer due to it being Germanium and my old JHF1 being silicon but the JHF1 wins hands down at just about everything.
On the box it does say Fuzz Distortion so maybe its ment to sound like a distortion pedal? I don't know
Im trying to decide whether to flip it or keep it just for the enclosure and build a RM Axis fuzz inside it as there a bitch to come by.
Well that's all I've got to say this is all based on my own opinion im sure others will disagree
