    See post #130.

Who do you want to build your amp?
Mike Soldano's tech who has worked with him for 10+ years, or someone who just saw a Soldano last week?

Who do you want to QA your amp?
Mike Soldano himself, or a QA inspector who just saw a Soldano last week?

It's not just about experience, it's about personal investment and commitment.
Mike's name is on the amp -- he wants it to be right.
The BAD guys may like their jobs, but they still just work there.

What if the other option is either Mike Soldano or no one? Mike will retire eventually, that is unavoidable, understandable and well-deserved. The man ran a successful small business in a finicky industry for decades and at the highest level.
I don't think it should be the end of the SLO though, especially if it's something that he will get a cut from and help him in his retirement. Again, it's well deserved.
So at some point, someone will have to build them. BAD is certainly qualified to do so.

They’d do it right. They certainly have upheld Dave Friedman’s standards and definitely have cleaned up some of the business practice messes made by Morgan. I’d trust Boutique Amplifier Distributors.

Listen to his future plans at 2:43:32 as well. Seems to me he's had a B.A.D. epiphany.

    I love Mesa Marks.
But it's a safe assumption that the top guys at Boogie would have far less zero's in their bank accounts had Mike Soldano never released the SLO.

So, I had trouble sleeping last night and watched the entire 3+ hour interview/video, and have a few thoughts:

Mike made a specific comment (which I will paraphrase) about "the reason I havent come out with more new amps over the years is that I end up spending all of my time managing my business and less time doing what I love and designing things".

My read on the entire situation is that if he could off-load manufacturing, sales and distribution, that would free him up to just design cool stuff, which is what he loves to do. Sure, I love the idea that Mike (probably) personally worked on all 4 Soldano's that I have. However, after 30+ years of faithfully making amps for us I just have to be happy for Mike if he has come to some sort of arrangement to offload the parts of his workday that he doesnt love so that he can focus on designing cool new amps, pedals, cabs and whatever else he wants.

And Mike, if you happen to read this board, Ive got my checkbook ready for whatever you design next.

Regard to Friedman amps - if someone buy a BE100, smallbox or any amp of him that was built point to point (not PCB), is dave the one that build the amp alone like mike? or he use B.A.D that include more people that help him?

    My idea:

Move to a smaller shop and keep production of the flagship SLO in house.

Move production of the rest of the line, distribution, etc. to BAD.

Question: Who started B.A.D.? I feel like Dave Friedman is involved but that might just be my brain filling in gaps of information on its own.

    Mike doesn't personally build SLOs.

Mike does. But these days not as much as his right hand man. I believe it's only two folks at Soldano making the SLO, per conversation with Mike this month.

When I was first looking to get an SLO a couple of years back, Mike told me that he doesn't assemble them. He very kindly signed them though...

Perhaps I'm being petty but today, after watching that segment about Mesa and Mike, I have a lot less respect for Randall than I had yesterday. I always knew there was some creative "license" with the Rectifier but not to the extent Dave illuminated.

Mike is involved, he is in the shop, he told me a couple of years ago.
Bottom line, for me I feel it’s bad news for the new SLO going forward...
Maybe our pre B.A.D SLO will be in high demand ;)

Mike owns the building. It may be more of a facility than he needs.

The For Sale signs were still there yesterday, with no "Sold" stickers.
