What wattage iron are you using?

What exactly are you trying to solder? Wires to the switch, to the back of the pots?

What kind of solder are use using 60/40 rosin core?

ditto the above- you have to melt some solder onto the tip of the iron to be able to melt solder that's already flowed. try melting it again with a glob of solder on the end of your iron.

if that doesn't work then you'll need higher wattage.

ok cool. I was trying to take the three wires off the volume pot..just was not happening last night. I will try again. Not sure the wattage of my iron but never had this problem before.

This is a problem with leadless solder, which I believe is now a requirement in new gits. A higher watt iron is useful, and as already stated, tin the tip and use some solder on the joint so the heat disperses to the joint a little better. I've had this particular issue with braided wire embedded in a pool of solder on the pot can a bunch recently, especially on newer Gibbys.
