Some funk for everyone today! Dr. Mambo's Combo plays every week @ Bunkers. Some serious cats throwing down! Enjoy!

Hard to beat the Combo!! And ya never know who might show up for a jam. Lot's of big names have played with the Combo.

Bunker's is always a great time. Love playing there.

I need to get up there and check em out sometime. Every Monday right? Maybe I'll go in the Spring after the weather breaks...

    2 questions:

Who is in the house band? I always was under the impression it was ex-Prince band members, like Sonny Thompson, Michael Bland, Tommy Barbarella etc... does Michael Scott sit in with them when he's not touring with Prince?

    Do they have DVD's/CD's available?

Is Billy Franzee (sp?) still around. I saw him with the Combo years ago. That cat could play anything!

    The recent line up is:
    Margie Cox - Vocals
    Mark Lichtieg - Vocals
    Billy Franze - Guitar/Vocals
    G-Sharp - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals
    Bill Brown - Keys/Shades
    Yohannes Tona - Bass
    Sonny Thompson - Bass
    Michael Bland - Drums

Yohannes is a great bass player. Total pocket player with small hints of flash. It is a little different than Sonny T---the force of bass freakness! You are right JCM...you never know who is going to show up. One of the more fun nights that I was out is when the horn players from Cirque de Soleil: Kooza show came out. A ton of Al Green was played that night!

Even Jon Mayer has been out to jam.....

Hey! We played with those guys at the Baked Potato while they were here in LA. The trumpet player, especially, is a baaaaad dude. Miren, I think is his name.
