Last week I found out that ESP has discontinued the standard series. In my opinion they were among the best bang for the buck guitars available. I have been playing them for about 5 years now. Superb build quality, absolutely perfect in every way with a reasonable price tag.

I tried to buy at least one more, the horizon in black cherry, but all dealers were already out where I live. I was told that E-II is the standard series with new branding, basically the same thing with no ESP logo on headstock. But after trying some, I would say they are more in the grade of LTD elites.
My speculation is that they couldn't keep building standards at that quality and still keep the price down. I have an LTD elite as well, great guitars but not as perfect as standards. I wonder if anyone else have tried the E-II, what are your thoughts?
