Needed/wanted a 4x12 cab. Unfortunately you can't get Maroon anymore, so I had to make a color change. Thankfully there was a gear change on the McCartney tour and I made out on it. Say hello to the new setup:

In it, 4 of Jim's Scumbacks, two 55hz and two 75hz in an X pattern. Mulder Audio cables arriving tomorrow to wire up the inside.

Tomorrow should be a lot of fun :dude I hope it will exceed my expectations!

Edit: Here's what I'll be using with it:

Did you go with the 25 watters or the 30? I went with the 30 watters in mine x pattern 55s and 75s. :dude

908SSP, i went with the 30w in an X pattern, just like yours. Did you wire it like so?

    Play By tone,

Looking forward to your report on the Scumback combination.

My Germino 2x12 has the 2 of the SA12-75HP and they are great. I'll be loading a 4x12 I have with the Scumbacks too quite soon and was toying with the 55/75 mix so any thoughts you have are much appreciated.

By the way, I think you chose a GREAT color scheme! (Nice LP too, btw! - Is it stock? Other PUs?)

    Play by tone,

I also cannot wait for your review.....

I'm also very curious as to how the bottom end is handled by the cab.

    typical Marshall flub or not.

It looked better in person than I thought it would, which is great.

Its a '99, so I did swap in Burstbucker Vs in there from the 57 classics. But, whenever I get around to it, I'm going to try some Darkbursts.

Thanks! It really does look better in person. On Fred's website, I wouldn't say too much about it. But it looks very classy in person. A couple guys I play with say its no comparison to the old color. I like them both, but its nice to see that its not boring to anyone ;)

    OK, Preliminary Thoughts:

4x12s sure do move more air.

The speakers aren't quite as efficient as the Celestion Blue/G12H30. I can tell b/c I have to turn up my amp in my IEM mix. However, without the in-ears it is a lot louder than the 2x12 cab, so the two extra speakers are making a difference :)

They are smooth. No harshness No flab. Plenty of bass. I ended up micing the 75hz cone for my IEM mix.

It reminds me a lot of my other cab when the speakers were new. I'm looking forward to breaking them in.

I didn't get a chance to play with the cab alone (without the band) so I'll have to critique at a later time.

They sound great so far. I'm sure as the cab breaks in I'll know it better and be able to compare it to my other cab.
