...designed the current crop of gas cans for lawn mowers.

What's the point if you spill half the MF'ing can every time you try to put gas in the mower?

My neighbor's wife asked me to help fill her mower. I had no idea how that thing worked.
    Glad mine are old.

I just had to buy one last week, my old one cracked.
The spout has a stupid collar you have to turn and then depress into the can in order for the gas to come out of the pipe. And some screwed up locking collar that holds the lid on.
Gas all over the place just trying to fill the tank. I tried Walmart, Home Depot, and Pep-boys. They all have the same thing.

It helps to take an old spout from an old can and put it on the new can- until you realize the new cans don't have a breather valve. :bonk

I bought a flo and go set up. Basically a siphoning system for gas cans. Work well and keeps spillage to a minimum.

I remove the entire spout and pour from the can. Do it once or twice and you wont spill a drop.

Or just get a hacksaw and cut the valve system off the tip, then shave down a cork to fit. But make sure it its well to keep water out.

Yes it is a terrible design and I spill much more gas than I used to with the other cans...

    Agreed.

I'm not sure this has ever happened to me before, but I believe I'm envious of another man's cans. :dunno

Agreed these new cans are totally a waste. There was a sale of a bunch of the "older" style cans a couple years back at my local home improvement store. I bought 5 of the 5 gallon ones and 2 of the gallon cans for $20. Wise investment it turns out.

I have that exact spout on mine. It's really poorly designed. Give me the old style any day.
