    EDIT:
I should have given more explicit detail. This is not my guitar at all. My coworker got HIS guitar delivered to his house and someone else signed for it with initials "AA". Fedex is not helping him out, I figured I'd try to help him out. I told him he needs to file a claim.

Has anyone else been here before?

I had an amp delivered to my school when I lived in DC as I did not want to have that sitting on the stoop and I could not take leave at that time.

    Office lady signed for it.

Yes, any signature is acceptable. So now your coworker needs to deliver it to you.

Stuff gets delivered to my office all the time, and I never sign for it. Thousands of dollars worth of stuff, guitars, computers, car parts. No issues. I guess the problem is if it is damaged in shipment and they accept it. You need to have a good place for the shipping.

If it's being shipped to your work, yep.. they just want a sig. I work on a receiving dock and sign for stuff all day long.

They dropped my guitar in the middle of my driveway and claimed someone signed but no one was home and we live in the mountains. Neighbor didn't sign. Basically the driver faked a sign and dumped the box. We've had a lot of of problems with FedEx and won't use them at all. Definitely file a claim. Other delivery companies seem to be fine where we are.

Update: apparently they delivered to wrong address, then the driver went back and got it, and then tried to deliver here but i wasn't home so he didn't leave it, but it is marked as delivered in the system.

Fedex is a palm to the face. Jeez.

So AA is at the other(wrong) address possibly?
Maybe that's a place to inquire.
How far is AA from your friend's house?

Edit...so FedEx still has it. Nevermind.

Porch Piracy is a problem. If you can't be home personally I'd suggest you bite the bullet and pick up at Fedex terminal. There you can examine the container for damage and sign accordingly. It may be more inconvenient, but a lost, stolen,or damaged guitar is far worse.

Police report. Then tell Fed Ex to start a claim.

That's a scary feeling, it happen to me once. but the driver didn't return, I was so very lucky the next day...a lady down the street knocked on my door with it in her hands. the thing that got me most, was they were no help at all when I called.

    Fedex offers 3 signature options.

    None

    Adult signature(anyone)

    Direct Signature(the addressee)

To avoid any misunderstandings, check the appropriate box.

Many Walgreen's locations are FedEx dropoffs. You can reroute your package there and pick it up during store hours. I happen to have a FedEx/Kinkos store about five minutes from where I work so I just have them held there.

There’s actually an “Indirect Signature” option too. That allows you to leave a signed note, or have a neighbor sign for it.

The second attempt voids the first attempt. If the second attempt was done correctly, it would be in the system as attempted/not in. Reattempt next day.

There's also Indirect signature (ISR) where a neighbor can sign for the package.
