For those of you that play in your sleep, why do you do it?

For me, it is mainly related to excessive alcohol consumption. I partially wake up, but am lulled back to sleep by my own playing and continued inebriation; often unhappily waking up when I hit a bad note.

I play in my sleep to memorize lyrics and song structure.

I do it in the vain hope that my subconscious might actually be able to play. I certainly can't when I'm awake.

I don't even think about it.
