Soooo.... What kind of SG is this ?

I bought this back in the 80s and it was kind of a cool guitar. It had an ebony neck and the block inlays, but it wasn't a Custom as far as I know..

..... I think the SG Customs had the 3 pickups and the diamond inlay in the headstock.

I remember the binding was pink and so it was stamped 2nd in the back under the Made in USA. It had the small pickgard. The other thing was the neck was really narrow at the nut.

Anyway, I guess the question was, what was the model ? Standard with a custom ordered ebony neck?

Looks like a 70's Standard model. I recently sold a similar one with the exact same features.

The SG Custom has inlays and binding just like the LP Custom, and I "think" it could be 2 or 3 pups. That looks like the small blocks on a non-dot 335. Was there a late 70s/early 80s SG Deluxe (seems to ring a bell)? And it looks to have the huge bridges from the 80s, too. At least it's not one of the ones with the ugly control plate on the top!

So you are saying the 70s standards mostly had Ebony fretboards with block inlays? I don't think they did. I was thinking most from that era had rosewood fretboards.

I'm no expert, but I guess I am saying that.

Honestly, it just is the same as the 75' Model I recently sold. Small block inlays, ebony fingerboard and very small neck width around the nut. I do believe it was a SG Standard.

I had that same guitar in black with what I thought was an ebony fretboard. Turns out it was "Ebonized" rosewood.

Many 70s Standards came with unbound ebony fretboards.
That is what you have there.

My friend had the exact same guitar in a walnut finish.
