I'll admit to being kind of new here but I have to ask, why abbreviate Dumble like "D-style" or "D" amp? Is this some sort of TGP inside joke?

because someone started doing it as some sort of naive idea that saying the name in a guitar forum in context with negative statements can bring on litigation.

its rediculous and I refuse to ever call those amps anything other then DUMBLE.

Its like saying "Who Thal shalt not be named" in the Harry Potter books.

    VOLDEMORT VOLDEMORT DUMBLE!

    Dumble...dor? :)

D is quicker to type than Dumble.

    This has been covered.

Apparently Dumble was all over people who made ebay listings saying "sounds like a Dumble" so folks started adding asterisks or abbreviating so it wouldn't pop up in a search.

It has continued on forums as a joke...albeit a tired one...and of course some people just do it because others do it.
