I was told today at the store not to use a One Spot to power the EHX Soul Food because it will blow the pedal up.

They said they blew up a number of them and thought they were just getting duds from the factory before they figured out it was the One Spot.

    Anyone?

I use a One Spot to power the five pedals on my board including a Soul Food. Never had a problem. I don't know for sure but I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary about a SF that would make them incompatible.

I think it's just an EHX thing. In almost all of their manuals it says not to power their pedals with anything but the given power supply. I power my MicroPog with an ISO5 and have no problems. You'll be fine with a 1 spot.

And what were they trying to sell you instead?

Really, there are good reasons to use something more robust than a OneSpot, but I don't think blowing up a standard 9v center negative pedal is one of them.

Yeah, I was skeptical, but who wants to be the guy who blows up his or anyone's pedal?
Maybe they had a bad One Spot.

I power a Bass Soul Food on a One Spot (daisy-chained with a Wet Reverb, Joyo EQ, and 1970s EHX Small Stone, hooked to an organ). No problems.

I have a small grab and go board with a Soul Food, that is powered with a one spot.

Zero issues. Don't even worry about it. It will be fine.

They probably had a center positive adaptor on their one spot. I've run mine off of a one spot, a daisy chain, and an isolated power supply, and it's still working good as new

Who is "they"? Although I'm not terribly crazy about using a One Spot to power pedals, it certainly won't "blow one up". These people (whoever they are) shouldn't be spreading misinformation.
