Does anyone find an excessive noise issue when the soul food is placed before an overdrive.

I Use mine before an 808 and don't have any issues. How much gain are you using on each?

Are you saying you're stacking all three overdrives simultaneously (Soul Food, Euphoria, and Golden Cello)? If so, that would explain your problem right there.

    Yep !
You amplify three times the signal, so obviously all the noises will be amplified too.
The soul food has a very high amplification ratio (you can gain a lot of volume), try maybe to put the volume knob a bit lower

I like to leave the soul food on all the time as I like the tone but if I engage any of the noise is like a waterfall.

I notice a little bit of noise when stacking as decribed. Not so much noise that it bothers me.

Tell you the truth the noise comes and goes. At times just a mild hiss and other times like you're standing next to a waterfall.

Are you using an isolated power supply? I was sceptical about the benefits, but I recently bought a VL 4x4 and the tone benefits are noticeable. As an experiment, try running your 2 pedals with batteries to see if it's an AC issue.

Thanks for the tip. I'm using the supply that comes with the gator board.

Not excessive noise, buts it will be noisy... just like when you stack any two OD\dirt pedals. The worst is trying to stack two klones...

I use it as an always on. No noise issues with other drives at all.
I'm also thinking of the JHS mod, just to try.

Not sure you addressed this, but are all three pedals being stacked at the same time? If so, where is your gain set?

You'll get a lot of hiss if you have a ton of gain stacked together at the same time.

No but I keep the soul food on all the time so if I kick in an od. It happens.

FWIW, I felt my Soul Food was very "picky" about the power supply powering it. It needs to be good quality - either the supplied EH one, or a solid isolated supply (VL, GigRig, Cioks, etc.). Think the combo of the Gator power supply - not the best quality - PLUS stacking 3 drives is the issue.

I don't really stack all three. Just one at a time but the soul food is always on. And again it's not always that noisy.

Thank you all for the input. If I use a walpler 57 in place of the soul food and engage the euphoria or golden cello the noise is minimal. But us ring the soul food in place of the 57. The noise is quite apparent. Again not all the time.

I stack SFs with many, many drives on two different boards and have no noise issues.
