Soundgarden Spoonman Tones

I was at GC last weekend and i grabbed a Strat through an OCD into a Fender Blues JR NOS with the Jenson speaker. Anyways, i was playing a handful of my favorite riffs and with the bridge pickup i could almost get the OD tones in Soundgarden's Spoonman, Outshined, and Rhinosaur, and it sounded pretty good, and i thought it sounded pretty crunchy for being low volume and 9v. Is there another OD that will work better with this set-up to get similar tones, or is it easiest just to use the OCD (which i'm really considering buying) and boost it with a BYOC 250+, a COT50, or an FD2?
