As much as I'd like to do this myself, I need expert help with my early 1980's Fender amps. Time for a check-up, grid screen resistors (or whatever they're called), bias pot addition, etc. YEars ago I worked with this fantastic tech at Torres Guitars when they were on Big Basin Way in Saratoga, but Torres - and the tech?- have since moved to San Mateo. This tech was incredible, and knew how to get the sound I wanted out of my Twin. So long ago.
If anyone has his contact info that would be great!
If you can offer favorite Fender amp tech's contact info, that would be great also!

There's a guy who hangs out here. South Bay Ampworks, I believe. I think he's in Gilroy though, so still a bit of a drive.

    Thanks for the input Mike.
Did you mean South Valley Vintage Amps? I am considering them b/c they are also supposed to have a big selection of speakers.
But I would like to find a local shop in the San Jose area so I don't have to drive so far.

Blackie Pagano of Tubesville. Blackie is now located in LA from NYC. He is one of the best Fender guys in the country. He was extensively quoted in the new Fender Amp book, The Soul of Tone. 213-621-9901

Robert Dixon of The Amphole in the valley is also excellent. He was one of the Stones amp guys and knows his stuff. 818-729-7944

I've been lucky to have had both work on my Victoria and Fender amps.

    Good luck.

    So I am geocentrically challenged!
The Fender amp specialists in the South San Francisco Bay that have been suggested are:
    South Valley Vintage Amps
    Val King
    Joe Lubinski

Any one have Joe's contact info? The others have web sites that I easly located.

i think Scott Kinkel (http://www.svvintageamps.com/index.php) still picks up work from Guitar Showcase and from C.B. Perkins for drop-off. save you a drive. Val does, too, i believe.

he did a beautiful job getting decay-o-caster's tone from a Stark Sex. he also did dynamite work on several amps of mine.

Val is highly recommended. he'll work with you.
