I acquired this in my search for the perfect Gretsch and I thought it was a bit gaudy so I was gonna move it along. An ebony Duo Jet is one of the classiest guitars around IMO and the sparkle jets don't exude that vibe.

But maaaaan after taking some pics I'm seeing the allure of the sparkle. I don't think I've *ever* seen one from Gibson or Fender that really did much for me but Gretsch pull it off. The plexiglass pickguard, filtertrons, and contrast with the black fingerboard/bridge just works.

Had a masterbuilt 3 tone sparkleburst around 2008..... it was mesmerizing.... cool to look at.

The material that Gretsch uses is nowhere near the brilliance of a true flake paint job.

I don't like sparkle but I have this one. It's a subdued I think so it's not as garrish.

I have a LP shaped object with a sparkly gold top, but the sparkles are very tiny. I have a red sparkle Strat where the sparkles are quite a bit bigger, but still small glitter sized. Not a big fan of big flake sparkles.

These are too big for my taste.
