Hey guys!

Anyone have tips on how to break in a speaker at home? Stereo? I am desperate but can't afford to go get a variac.

Thanks!

Hook your stereo up to them, set the volume for about 20 watts. Turn up the bass and mids, turn the treble down to 1/4. Put some dynamic music on the CD, let it play over and over while you're at work.

After about 20-25 hours, they'll be nicely broken in, not completely, but the newness/treble and so forth should be gone.

Stick the speaker in a closet, that helps some.

Oh and I find that Beastie Boys' "Check Your Head" does the job quite nicely. Dynamic, plenty of bass, and tons of Mojo to make sure your speaker turns into magic.

Thanks, what type of cable? Do I run the Phones out to the cab?

Set the volume for about 20 watts? How do I know if my stereo is kicking out 20 watts? We live in a condo so I hardly ever turn up my amp other than gigs and I haven't gigged in over a year when I got the cab/speakers. I just started playing with some guys and only time I turn up is practice, not often.

We live in a condo attached to others so I can't do much turning up at home. UGH!!!!!!! Maybe I have to buy broken in speakers? I think Avatar sells some?
