After spending five hours doing this, I originally had three whole people check it out. Now that it's been dug up, I re-hosted and re-posted it.

Just put one in my Peavey Ultra 112. I like it better than the mid heavy V-30 I replaced with it!

gulliver, thanks a lot for re-posting the comparison

surprising how similar the Carvin GS1275 and the V30 sound...

I just ordered a pair of GS1275s. I have a blown V30 in my Mesa 2x12... this will offer some additional options.

    thanks again,

Honestly the clips are decieving-I think the mic has a lot to do with it. The Carvin sounds good but substantially different than the V-30. Much less mids.It sounds sort of similar to my favorite G12H-30 but not as nice. Its also MUCH less efficient.(loud)- unless I got a bum one but I dont think so. Still an excellent value!

The above is a quote of myself from a different thread ... can't say I didn't warn you ;)

I recorded quite loud and the difference wasn't noticed originally ... and I wasn't listening for it ... nor did the mic pick it up. Yes, they are not as efficient.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I ordered four of them last night after checking out your info. I think they sound pretty good considering. They'll also be perfect for a gigging cab where you won't be worried about leaving it in a vehicle and such.

my use is solely for recording... two will populate a Mesa 2x12 or mix with a V30 or GB... volume (efficiency) is not an issue

Got this pic from another thread.

Is the large 112 closed cab you mentioned about around this size? Thanks.

My large 1x12 looks larger than the picture. The approximate internal dimensions are posted on the website with the clip.

I have a second cabinet that is like the one in the picture. I actually had the front and back of the electronics part sealed with boards and had the dividing wood (between speaker and electronics section) cut open to provide more internal volume ... my bigger is better kick. It sounds good, but I still don't think it sounds as good as the large one (which is deeper as well). I think you notice the size difference more at louder volumes.
