I've been looking at getting either the fudge brownie or the wine red version because they both feature the Jensen P12Q 40 watt speaker. To my knowledge, this speakers allows them to achieve break up much earlier than the usual C12K.

I am curious about other speaker options available to achieve a similar result. I have even been considering looking into 25 watt speakers as well. I'm not looking to distort the amp too badly, but being able to achieve that really nice DRRI breakup without blasting volume would be great.

They made a run with a celestion blue a few years ago. Played one and sounded great. IMO a canabis rex is a perfect match for a DRRI. Very warm and smooth. The bass isn't boomy like the stock speaker. Still has sparkle but gives more headroom as it's an efficient speaker.

I do really like the sound of the Cannabis Rex speakers, however, I'm looking for less headroom, essentially.

Try a 30w Weber Blue Dog with a hemp cone.

I dig my FSR wine/wheat (Bordeaux blues) with the P12Q...super sweet amp.

I believe Jensen just put out a lower powered speaker for early breakup in conjunction with fender. Or maybe the new Eminence/Alessandro ceramic that I believe is Fendery. Alessandro posted about it on facebook, I believe he is Hound Dog Corp.

Jupiter has both alnico and ceramic.

Tone Tubby has a couple new low watt alnico.
