Speaker Suggestions?

I picked up a Univox U-45B at the suggestion of Leon. Fun little amp. The brown label Jensen 12" special design speaker is not my cup of tea. Too dark, breaks up too early, and muddy midrange.

Leon suggested an Alltone or a Jensen P12p, which would be nice. But Alltones are hard to find and I don't want to risk buying a used vintage speaker.

Without getting into high dollar options, what would you all suggest for a 12" replacement speaker that has medium to late breakup, and a nice upper midrange without being ice picky?

The first thing to do, if it hasn't been done, is replace the electrolytic caps. Then check all resistors to make sure they're within spec and check those coupling caps for leaks. Those Japanese oil filled caps are famous for leaking DC. The brown & gold label Jensen speakers are usually bright and crisp, which leads me to believe there's something else going on there.

the guy I bought it from replaced the filter caps. The grey oil caps are still there, and replaced a few parts related to the tremelo that were shot or out of spec.

Perhaps I should swap a speaker from another one of my low watt combos to see how it reacts. If it's the same, then it looks like some of the tone caps need to be swapped out. This looks very easy to work on and I can solder pretty well, I just know nothing about electronics and would not know which cap to get for replacment of the old gray ones. What would a re cap on average if I took it to a tech vs getting the parts myself?

I had a Jensen C12N that was too dark, muddy, and unbalanced (to my ears) across the frequencies. I replaced it with an Eminence Cannabis Rex, and now I'm very happy with the sound.
