speaker swap on rivera r55112

    Anybody have any significant improvement when swapping out the stock celestion speaker? little help please

    The one thing I found with that amp is that it had a bit of a honky midrange. This was more due to the shallow cabinet design which was why Rivera discontinued it. I'm not sure if this is what you don't like about it or if another speaker will fix it. I would siggest trying it through some other cabs and speakers before you put a new speaker in. Sometimes the design of the cabinet is such that even a speaker change won't always help.

    Yeah I'm with you on that Cochese...The R55 is a fine amp except for that combo cab....try putting that speaker from it in another cab....what model Celestion is it? Is it an 85??

    yes it has the 85 celestion in it,have since stuck a vintage 30 in and although its been played 2 or 3 hours im not so sure this is the right direction either! Any other suggestions,dont really want to drag around an extension cab!

    I'd try a Celestion G12-65 or a Scumback H 75hz HP,,,,
