I recently acquired an 80's Roland JC-120 and it sounds very bland.I suspect the speakers are "tired" it sounds dark and has no liveliess.what speakers will sound good in it? I use it with my boogie's direct out in stereo and it sounds great especially the chorus tone, very 80's metal, but on it's own with a Fulldrive II sounds muffles and has no edge.

V30's, maybe? Or EVM12Ls. Then no one will ever be able to steal it. ;)

You do realise it's a Jazz amp, right? I borrowed my brother's for a bit, and it was wonderful. But after a while, I too wanted a bit more edge. I went shopping for a pedal, and came home with a Marshall stack. :rotflmao Right tool for the job. There is no substitute.

I put EVM's in mine for a while....way too loud and heavy. Now it just has Roland speakers and it's fine. That's what it's supposed to sound like.
