For the channel switching model (2210) I think vintage 30's in a 4x12 sound great.

with stock 2203/4, g1265s. takes away a lot of the brightness inherent in the stock circuit. perfect match. handles the power with ease in a 4x12.

V30's. Just right for the jcm800's frequency wise.

Greenbacks or g12-65's.. soo far anyway. g12t-75's give the tight scoop sound to me ears and that can be cool for recording higher gain.

I tried my 2210 with G12-75's as well as G12-65's, both old JCM800 cabs, and I preferred the G12-65 loaded cab (so I bought it...over ten years ago). Hope that helps. Haven't tried it with Vintage 30's or Greenbacks.

+1; compared to a broken-in pair of old british v30s in an open-back 2x12, the 65s were warmer, less "hashy", and not as loud, allowing me to push my 2203 a bit more without getting my club band fired.

EV's seem to work very efficiently in Marshall ZakK Wylde sig cabs but I'd really like to hear a JCM with Scumback H75's/M75's!

I am using the scumback H75/M75's with a JCM800, really dig the tones, Puplexi. The speakers do have a big wide tone. yet doesn't fatigue me after hours of use. Was worth every penny I think.

my JCM800 open back combo sounds HUGE with a single V30 in there. This amp/speaker combo is anything but bright for me.

Right now i'm using a Weber M25 pre rola, and an Emi V12 in an avatar vintage premier.
I have an H30 pre-rola on order to replace the V12.

The Mesa 3/4 open wide cab with the C90 sounds outstanding.
A pair of red fangs and greebacks in an X pattern in a 4x12 too.

I always thought the 800's sounded best with Marshall's 1965 cabs (4X10 cab). I think they load it with G10-30s, or something like that. At least give it a listen before dismissing it. The 4X10 does something neat to the sound....tightens it up, maybe.

What cabs were these sold with? Were they designed around use with a specific cab, like the DSL or TSL?

    Thanks!

JCM800 cabs came with G12t-75's, a great speaker, they're full range not "scooped". v30's and greenbacks have hyped mids, any one of these would work fine and don't dismiss the 75's because the amp was designed around these.

G12T's aren't scooped since when? They're totally bass and treble peaked vs. the mid peaks of the Greenbacks. The G12T-75 isn't a bad speaker, but there are better options out there. I find my G12T-75's too bassy and harsh whereas my Greenbacks are nice and sweet sounding.
