Any idea where this was? I seen them together back in 89 I believe at Cobo Hall in Detroit.

I saw this tour and remember it vividly. I was a huge SRV fan back then. They swapped each night on this tour for who opened and who closed. SRV opened the night at the USF Sundome in Tampa... then came back to close on "Going Down" with Beck. Honestly, that night, SRV blew Beck off the stage as they traded licks... and I'm a Beck fan too.

I doubt it's the same one but "Goin' Down" on the SRV box set was recorded at Tingley Coliseum, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 1989.

I was at that show as well..main floor 5th row. The last time I saw Stevie. I've got a video of Beck's set at one of the shows & Stevie comes out for "Goin' Down" on that one too.
Terry Bozzio was playing with Jeff. He's the drummer on this.

Opposite experience for me when I saw the tour in Toronto...
Beck was is in rare form - totally badass, inventive/creative playing...
To his credit, SRV didn't even try to compete after Beck's solo on "Going Down". Stevie hit a few big, intense notes and moved on...
Respectful, very cool, and a good musical decision.
Big fan of both, but when Beck's on, what can ya say?
SRV was of course a big Beck fan... RIP.

There is a bootleg floating around of that 84' concert where they do Jeff's Boogie. I prefer them doing that tune over Going Down. Although, I love Freddie King.

I opted not to see them in 89'. What a mistake :NUTS

I did see Stevie in 87 and managed to get on stage after the concert just ended.

I was right there looking at Stevie's pedals. What a thrill!

When are they going to release this stuff on DVD rather than more SRV compilations. Give us the good stuff.

I saw the Beck / SRV tour and it was very cool. SRV opened and Jeff was on fire. The only thing that would have been cooler was seeing Jeff come out and play I'm Going Down with Double Trouble rather than the other way around.

I am still kicking myself for not going to this show. My reasoning was I didn't want to see SRV in a large arena when I usually caught him at festivals or amphitheatres. And I was not too familiar with Jeff Beck at that time.
