What effect is Stevie using on Crossfire?? I have done a search and Nadda' I am sure it has been hashed and rehashed but I still don't know!! Have been using my Supa Trem for this song, but it seems like its missing something, so I add the Retro Sonic Phase and it gets to "busy". :huhHELP

There are no effects on that song.

He may have used a Tube Screamer as a boost, but that's it.

You're not talking about the organ part are you? Otherwise, its just straight up Tubescreamer into amps sound the whole tune.

I agree - you might be thinking he was playing that on a guitar using a vibe or leslie speaker, but Crossfire is off In Step, by which point he had Reese Wynans playing with him. That's Reese on organ.

yeah, 90% of the time SRV only used tubescreamers and wah pedals (had a univibe and i believe a fuzz face later in his career)... Crossfire is just amp and tubescreamer tone... you might be thinking of the into which is Reese Wynans on keys

Wow!! Good to know I would have sworn their was a leslie or univibe..... Thanks I play guitar in a Trio, do you think I should use something on my guitar to make it sound like the album with all the instruments?? If "yes", what effect??

I've heard versions where he used a fuzz. Mostly TS into cranked amps though, along with a wicked vibrato and double string bends.

When he did use a vibe effect, I think he liked to use a fender Vibratone cabinet. Not sure I hear any vibe on that song though.
