SS preamp w/ Tube power section - best with pedals?

Help me with this crazy thinking but wouldn't a SS preamp section with a tube power section amp that generates a great clean sound be a good selection for somebody who wants to get their dirt from pedals?

Just thinking about how most hybrid amps are put together these days are just the opposite.

Not if you want to drive the preamp into a little distorted creamy goodness. IMHO, you probably need both for best results, although modeling amps do pretty fine imho.
