Any other SW fans watching this series? The season 1 finale was tonight and it was the best half hour of storytelling in the SW Universe since the original trilogy.

    Sith just got real!

    digging it!

it feels like Star Wars, that "wild west in space" thing, with stormtroopers and TIE fighters, rag-tag rebels and secret jedi.

i enjoyed clone wars and all, but it was stuck with that same stuffy "trade federation blah blah blah" tedium and the sense of the inevitable looming unhappy ending that stifled the prequel movies.

if rebels is any indication, i have high hopes for the new movies.

I loved the first few episodes. This show is far better than anything I saw in the miserable prequel trilogy.

    yeah, CGI animation.

it's set between III and IV, the Empire rules all but a skeletal underground Rebellion is just starting to emerge.

I've only seen previews, but what I saw definitely looks promising.

    Yeah, I've been watching it.
    I've liked it so far.
I didn't know that the season finale was tonight.
I guess I'll have to catch it later.

They could have done a better job with the character models and that little kid sucks but good stories so far.

I like it but have to say I liked the clone wars much better. Humorous and dark. Had Darth Maul's brother - George Maul.

This is kinda why I didn't get in to Rebels. Clone Wars was just the same thing, over and over again. So monotonous. Maybe I will give Rebels a shot.

They had a pause there in the middle of the season right,
about after half a dozen episodes +/-?
I think I paused after Empire Day...?

    Great.
It's been a while, Thanks for the update Walter. I'll have to catch up.

Completely enjoying how it all blends in well. Quite entertaining both for me and my youngster. We love it.

The hits over the last year have been

    Ang - The Last Airbender
    Star Wars Rebels,
    The Legend of Korra.

OT - What's next or that I have missed as a series?

I watched the first five episodes with the kids and we just could not get into it. IMO I would have preferred if they had left out the Jedi stuff since 99% of the rebellion is made up of non-Jedi. As a result, it seemed like more of the same-old-same-old but only more "cutesy" than "Clone Wars".

I loved the Clone Wars and Rebels is possibly better. The finale was amazing. Loved it.

I actually enjoyed the prequels. I think they were bound to fail because everyone had their own expectations as to what they felt they should have been and when it didn't fit their plan, they hated it and it ruined their childhood....

Ep VII and the so on are already facing the same thing. People cried about the cross guard lightsaber without even knowing any backstory on it or the relevance. I try not to expect certain things, I just watch. If I like it I like it. If I don't, I don't. I'm not going to over-analyze a kids movie series.

The writing and character development in the series are the strong suit. It took me a while to get used to the animation aesthetics but now it's not a distration.

The finale last night tied up the first season so well with all the intersecting story lines meeting into a perfect climax while setting up the second season. And it has, imo, the best Jedi moment in the entire SW Universe when Kanan experiences his moment of self-actualization.

Kanan's duel with the Inquisitor is on par with the Duel of the Fates, Mace v. Sidious and Luke v. Vader I as the greatest in the series.

Rebels is doing what it's supposed to do, serve as the link between the fall of the Old Republic and the rise of the Rebel Alliance.
