I only caught the last 1/2 hour of this last night. Lucky for me it was the part when Stevie performed. Man he still has it. He and his band sounded amazing. The guitar player was killin' it on a Tele too. The opening piece of the medley was awesome. Who was that, a session guy? Best part was watching the audience trying to clap along to a song in a non 4/4 signature.

True that opening was awesome like some Fusion from the 70's

What's with Jay -Z he's not even taping his foot and looks miserable during Stevie Set, you got to be dead, he does not feel it all over.

It almost sounded a little RTFish. He and his band were great. The only person really gettting into it was Pharrell. Playing some air keys.

it was fusion from the 70's. it was his song "contusion" from his "songs in the key of life" album

The original guitar player from Stevie's band on Songs In The Key was Michael Sembello, the guy who wrote and performed the tune 'Maniac' for Flashdance.

Since Stevie is doing a Songs In the Key tour, that's why it (Contusion) was so tight. It's been heavily rehearsed.

I'll bet he was uncomfortable cause they had the camera on Beyonce almost the whole damn show.

Lady Gaga was excellent singing "I Wish".

I recorded the whole thing and didn't watch until tonite (Tuesday).....
All I can say is WOW about the whole show. Every singer and musician was spot on every performance. I was just blown away by the level.
This show proves what's wrong with most other Music on TV any more....

    The Wonder show had :
    No nearly naked women...
    No humping the monitors...
    No Miley Cyrus antics...
    No dancing groups....
    No Kanye...

Just fine work by most everyone. I don't really like some of the performers on the show, but tonite they brought it ....it was about the music

Makes sense the guy is a national treasure, who we often forget about. He's a serious guy with a social awareness to match his talent. A class act and he was schooled by the Motown "charm school" in pride and professionalism to support his talent. Anything less would go against 50 years Wonder.

I'm pretty sure that most of those guys were subs - they worked on the stuff at home and just showed up ten minutes before downbeat.

Real players don't need to rehearse.

The Key of Life tour was outstanding. Well over two and a half hours of music with a huge and terrific band. I only caught the first half hour of the TV thing but it paled in comparison (not surprising considering SW's talent, charisma, and *voice*.)

I remember my sister and I standing in front of the Motorola Hifi (tube type with 15" Jensen alnico!) playing Fingertips part 1 and 2 on a 45rpm disc. SW's first song hit. I think he was 12 or something like that. We were probably 11
