I wonder if some kind soul might be able to give me a brief rundown of the various SUF Muff clones.

Ideally, I am looking for something with lower gain, greater clarity and fuller mids -- cleaning up a bit via the guitar volume would also be a huge plus. I have no idea if it's possible to find all that in one of the SUF offerings, so I thought I'd come to the experts. (How's that for brown nosing?)

I should add, if someone feels that my search would best be served by a pedal from another builder, I'd love to hear from you, too.

    Thanks in advance!

You should address these questions to the guy who makes them. Matt is very helpful and prompt in his replies.
Oh yeah, he also makes terriffic sounding pedals, I have three of them.

Maybe what you want is a Hoof?

Yeah, ask Matt. But, it does sound like you're describing a Hoof.

This sounds less like a muff and more of a FF to me.

I was gonna say this sounds like Skreddy's description of the new P19

Low gain and higher clarity sounds more like a Fuzz Face to me, especially if you want to clean things up with the volume knob. Matt is the best person to ask, though.
