The Radio Shack thread got me thinking about this. What stores from your youth no longer exist?

I remember walking to go buy candy at Woolworth's.

Warehouse Market. Might be a regional thing.

Man, do I miss those flat-bed carts and red marking pencils.

    Music stores.....all now gone :(

Melody Music in Hartford. Great store downtown that had a cool vibe.

LaSalle Music in West Hartford. Loaded floor to ceiling with top shelf gear.

Creative Strings in Wethersfield. A wall full of Guitars. Where I bought my first real guitar, a black Kramer Pacer. Miss that place and the pacer.

Thoroughbred Music in Tampa. HUGE selection, fantastic sales staff, and annual parties where I saw Yngwie, John Christ, Adrian Legg, and numerous others play.

Damn I miss the real good old school brick and mortar music stores and am jealous of you guys that live near some. At least in CT we have Brian's Guitars and an ok GC.

I was going to say TG&Y but Craig beat me to it. My mom always called it "Toys, Guns & YoYos."

There was another one local to us called Frazier Farms. It was like a cheese and salami kind of place and always smelled so good.

Orange Julius comes to mind too.

New album release was an event. You couldn't wait to check out the cover artwork etc. Then travel home to throw it on the turntable. :dude

"Suffer a little and Save a lot" was their slogan:

THIS is a pretty good blog with chronicles of most the stores mentioned in this thread by region and state!

Orange Julius still exist out here in Sacramento, but they're in the same stores as Dairy Queen. Mostly in the malls. Not sure if they still taste the same. The orange ones tasted like baby aspirin! My favorite were the strawberry.

Del Taco is still going strong. Still lots of A&Ws too, but maybe you're talking specifically about the drive ins.

Didn't encounter Tower until past my youth. But sorely missed.
