Need some advice of some good Strat pick-ups. I like my Strat however I need better pick-ups... I play Texas Blues (SRV/KWS etc..) and play lead most of the time. I need that great Strat Tone as well as being able to cut thru the mix when I play solos. I know the other things involved such as pedals - amp etc. but I need to upgrade in the pick- up dept. What would you suggest and about how much would they cost?

    Texas Specials?
    Fralins?
    Rio Grande????

    Thank you!!

Rio Grande Vintage Tallboys will get you there.

I highly recommend the Fralin Blues Specials set. To me, they're everything good about a Strat sound, but with a touch more muscle. Get the baseplate on the bridge pickup.

DiMarzio Area pups currently in my Strat. I actually went with Fralins in my Tele. Lindy was great to deal with. The Vintage Hot or Blues Special are great Strat style replacements.

If you decide to go noiseless, I really like the Fender Hot Noiseless (as installed in the Jeff Beck Strats), I have a set in one of my Strats. Not to pick nits, but they're just Hot Noiseless, not vintage Hot or Hot Vintage. Fender also has a pickup called the Vintage Noiseless, but it's not really similar at all. Just trying to clarify.

My Jeff Beck pups when in its neck position with a Lovepedal E6 or my TS808HW sounds exactly like SRV or KWS. See my avatar? Thats KWS standing right above me JAMMIN! I seen SRV 4 times and the last was with Jeff Beck. 3 of my fav guitarists!

All of the pickups you mention sound great. At the end of the day it comes down to the player.
