    Hey all,

I've been toying with this dang notion of getting a "beater Strat" for some time now ...too long! But I want something significantly tonally different from the rest of the stable. So no 'buckers, no "vintage-y" single coils, nothing "Tele-ish" as all that's covered, so to speak.

So here's my question: How close can I get to P90 tone using a standard Strat pg and 3-pup configuration? And, of course, which specific pups would do that trick? Thanks for helping feed the addiction :D

    Fralin SP43. It's not a P90, but it's the closest I've heard.

I just ordered a P90 strat bridge pickup from Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe- he's a pleasure to do business with. Most of my emails, about asking what would best fit my needs, were answered within 5-10 minutes. I ended up buying a custom set of pickups two days ago for $165 and they are already in the mail!
