I need to replace the nut on my 1977 Fender Stratocaster. Can anyone recommend what to buy? I really don't want a blank because I don't want to worry about cutting slots and sanding it down and such.

    Thanks, john

You're not going to find a nut that has the spacing and height right for your guitar as a drop in replacement. It really has to be made for your guitar to be right. Even the pre-slotted nuts require so much final fitting that their pre-determined generic spacings can be more help than hinderance.

The white Tusk pre-slotted are great tone improvements on every strat I've install them and they fits without problem. No spacing issues...Just like a brand new strat that plays and sound great!...

Wow, I've never seen one of those. ;)

So many people seem to be fine with the average factory nut, simply because they've never known any different. Once someone has played one that is actually cut proper, they are often amazed at how they ever considered a factory nut playable.

The tusq nuts work well for what you are after, but nothin beats a custom cut!
