Strat wiring question

Hey guys, I'm curious if it is possible to wire a strat so that when in positions 2 and 4, the neck and middle and bridge and middle pickups, respectively, work like humbuckers.

The reason I ask is because I love the single coil plink for rhythm work, but really miss the fatness of my humbuckers for lead work. Any other suggestions would be awesome too. Thanks!

Sure it can be done. You could add a series/parallel switch. Normally when combined, start pickups are in parallel. You cad add a switch to combine them in series. You'll want to make sure the middle pickup is RWRP or things will get super noisy. I did this on a start back in college and ended up not caring for the series tones - too dark and muddy, but some people dig it.

So after some short thought, I think my best option will be to put a single coil sized humbucker into the middle spot. Any recommendations on ones that you like (that sound closest to PAF) would be awesome
