it seems to me a balls out fuzz that cleans up well gives you a massive pallette to diddle with, which I appreciate more than not.

on that note, I revisited my Spooky Tooth yesterday and was surprised to discover how many tones I can get out of it with my vol knob. from robot-on-acid bleeps down to raunchy crunch, and even almost clean. great box!

Is uh.... Is that a spooky tooth with all pots replaced with a resistor within the resistance range of the replaced pot, or is that a spooky tooth with some resistors removed completely?

You know, I'm not exactly sure, you'll have to ask John. I think it's a Spooky Tooth with everything maxxed. :D

    Resistance is futile!
It was made with everything cranked.
    Volume mid way maybe.

Why would anyone would take the
multitude of tones in the ST---the sheer
range and diversity---and collapse it in
    such a reductionistic way???

If you can get electrons to dance, juke,
and jive in all sorts of cool and unique
ways why force them into a corner and
limit their variability and mobility? :huh

 It's a legitimate question. At least that's the way I use distortion. :dunno

You don't have to get defensive about it. :console

Sweet! I thought maybe you had “bypassed” a knob or two and came up with some uber aggressive version, like removing the tone stack from a muff.

    I don't.

Obviously, I tried a bunch of different settings and that's the one I always kept coming back to (everything full on). That's where I thought it sounded best. :dunno

Also, are these people trying to appeal to my  of purple (& distortoFUZZes)?
