Aw man! I love the Anaconda artwork on this one! <3
Got some new stuff waiting for me yesterday when I got home from NYC:
Yep, that's how it all started!!!
That looks quite promissing!!! How are they?
Impressive (all three). I really dig the mids on the La Rica, nice touch, the Hooligan with the "Cram mod" is super duper cool, way better than I expected for a "faux" PTD and the Marc F'n Ford is really, really nice. Even at full gain it doesn't fall apart and the treble boost is very nicely tuned. A good haul. Very happy.
My Nebula should be here today. I have lots of work to catch up on in the studio but I think that'll have to wait. Play on! <g>
I was in from the first note. Nice, Chris.
I was mildly concerned it might go full bowling ball, but it's actually great-looking, isn't it?
I went on a bit of a used/cheap fuzz binge while on vacation. Pretty damn happy with all of these --- and many thanks to @Phineas Ball for the great deal on the Wattson.
Still in the mail is a Mojo Hand One Ton Bee.
Not a huge Muff guy anymore, but that Box of War is
the best new Civil War Muff variant I have owned. Can
also double as home security, as you could deliver
some serious blunt force trauma with that box.
are there any demos available that you feel highlight the strange & most unique aspects of the Ayahuasca?
if so, where be they?
Wow, you must have jumped right on the mff as soon as it was released huh? He’s one of my favorites, just saw magpie salute last Saturday night. He’s the man
I'm not sure what I just listened to.. but it sounded cool
Listened to some clips of this, sounds cool. But are there any sounds you can get out of it that go beyond having separate Trem and Fuzz pedals? Or is it similar to having a regular trem and fuzz of choice together?
Box of War is an awesome looking pedal.
My band mate and another buddy got it first and raved about it so I figured, what the hell. Glad I went for it though. It's very useful. I don't know Ford's work well but he is great.
I need to spend more time w it to give a better answer, but in short, you can dial the tremolo out and have a really crazy fuzz by itself. It’s similar to the Spaceman Wow in concept, but massively better execution. The fuzz by itself would be worth it. The Lo-fi trem is just icing. It does a great job of melding those tones so it doesn’t sound like a swooshy mess. I’m gonna break out the expression pedal this weekend and work over the ramping and dipswitches.
Knobs has a coupla' videos out there for the Ayahuasca as well as one of mine for just drive, drive/trem and fuzz.
From what I’ve read it’s basically an Os Mutantes married to a Gravitas. Sounds like a gecko eating a moth to me!
Oh, and I want to hear it through your Bassman Jesus. Please?!?!
Lol....that needs to happen for sure. The Bassman is currently at the shop b/c I couldn't get rid of a rattle noise, I was thinking I'd blown a speaker - turns out it's because the speaker cones look like this:
They're getting re-coned. This has been the summer of amp tech fees for me....painful at times.
It's as solid a Russian muff as I've played. I'm really digging it with the new guitar (J Mascis Jazzmaster). The P90s in it are perfect for the fuzz:
Cheers, man. Glad you're stoked.
Funny/not funny. This morning while with the Nebula my Tremolux started making this choppy, fritzy tremolo - not it's usual, smooth-n-creamy trem (which was turned off anyway). So... amp tech, here we come...
Yeah, never good when the vintage stuff starts acting out of character. Just means $$$ are about to come out of the bank account - and I'm gonna have to sell something.
The amazing thing to me is how good the Bassman sounded before those speakers just tore up badly enough that the damage was audible. It sounded really damn good when I first got it, and obviously those speakers had all those butchered repairs at the time. I'd never seen them until my tech sent me those pictures over the weekend. Then, it was like, "You've got to be f'n kidding me..." At least I'm in good hands, and I know he can get it 'right'. I hope you've got a good tech, and your Tremolux doesn't need too much work. What year is it?
Also, speaking of the Nebula - good job selling me one b/c of your demo. lol. Zak should've hired you for marketing on this one.
Edited to add: Just got shipping notice for my RCA Sunlion! Pumped. Mike put the new RCAs on the Sunface and Beano sides. I've had a couple Beanos with the Baldwin transistors. I'm curious to hear if there's any difference in the tonez. @analogmike could you hear anything between them in the Beano?
