string winding technique

    You still need 2 to 3 winds under the locking point.

    ^ could that be done BEFORE inserting string through post hole?

    Twist lock on wound strings is not necessary because the windings lock to each other a they go around the posts wish lock on plain strings is good. The reason to have more wraps around the post is not for tuning stability, but to achieve a good angle the puts pressure on the nut.
    Always wind down.
