Eight times out of ten, when the guitarist around the campfire is playing a tune, invariably it is "Beautiful Dreamer".

Can anyone tell me, was Barney Kessel or Tommy Tedesco playing these cues between 1959 and 1963?

While I dont know for certain, I think it is highly likely that Tedesco and Kessel were doing this type of stuff. Also Bob Bain and Howard Roberts. Bob Bain played on at least one Gunsmoke episode and Roberts played on lots of tv show themes in the late 50s and early 60s (including westerns) so I would say there is a good chance he was doing various cues as well.

A bit OT, but whoever played electric guitar as the sound track for the Beverly Hillbillies was amazing.

The cat who played guitar in scenes of Ellie Mae going down the stairs or playing with her critters at the pool was Perry Botkin Sr.

When I think of western music shows in the B&W TV era, I think of Tex Ritter's Ranch party, and Town Hall Party. If you're not hip, you owe it to yourself to check them out, even if you don't "like country"...[/QUOTE]
