the "Ancho Poblano" Stratocaster? The "Tomatillo" Stratocaster? Come on Fender, this is just pathetic and reeks of laziness. Maybe the naming committee has been drinking a little too much tequila on lunch break? Even if I liked one of these models I wouldn't buy it just because of the name.

Hey here's a suggestion for a new model--the Tortilla Telecaster;)

The Boracha Jazzmaster. Turn the body upside down and charge $4500 for it. Sorry. I like the look, but the price is obscene.

I own one and matching bass, but got both for less than $4k. Really, really great guitars if you're ok you can't reach past 17th fret.

PS Why do people use guitar
asking price to further their point against a guitar purchase, when everybody pays about 35% less,

OP.... maybe because of SoCal... think about it... makes sense and calling guitars "DRUNK".

It's like boutique beers - if you want to sell a high-end product for more than its worth, a unique/silly name is mandatory. ;)

We don’t pay 35% less here in the UK. The asking price IS the price.

There is definitely no money made past the 17th fret.

That's still way too much money for a bolt on neck guitar. You could get a body for about $125 or so and put together a good partscaster with all the stuff you want to for a fraction of the price of a Fender. There's a guy who sells Boracha bodies on Ebay.

I'll agree that the Fender naming scheme can be a little much but it's just a name. The reverse Jag style looks cool to me. I'd play it!

I think it only reflects Fender's past as guitars made by Latinos in southern California, which was Mexico in the past. And now with a Mexican factory, it only fits.

I have a Baja Tele; it is a great instrument and has a great name. Imagine the alternate anglo name: Lower Tele or Below Telecaster. That ain't working...

Ancho Poblano= Wide mild chile from Puebla or Wide Chile ; I've had these at many fine Mexican restaurants, AKA Chile Rellenos.
