Stupid question time. Could I swap a full range speaker into my tube amp...

I play acoustic w/ Piezo thru some pedals including an always on flanger and compressor. It's currently going thru a box preamp into a 30w tube amp, clean channel. Sounds pretty good except I have to roll the bass all the way off to keep it from farting.

Could I just swap a full range speaker into the combo amp and get an even better sound? Is this a stupid idea?

You could, but I'd be pretty sure you wouldn't like the results. Wouldn't waste my time as I've been there, done that, bought the T-shirt...

It would probably be decent sounding for acoustic, but you wouldn't want to run electric through a full range speaker.

What kind of speaker did you have in mind? You'd probably need some kind of coax thing to really get full range.

I ran a princeton reverb clone into a wedge monitor to see how acoustic would sound. I was not impressed as the highs distorted pretty badly. YMMV
