Just watched the sunday concert and they were damn good..
I thought it sounded good too.
A little TOO good. I'd wager the vocals were enhanced by tracks.
Do they play Mr. Roboto anymore? I watched a concert on Palladia one day just for that song and they didn't play it.
I wish I had cable to watch this.
As far as I know, Styx doesn't play Mr. Roboto anymore, and they definitely will never play Babe.
They still rock it like they own it. Such a tight band..
I love Styx!
The Don Felder lead in was pretty good too. He has a lot of quality guitars.
Styx was great. Their vocals didn't sounded enhanced to me. Great guitar work all around and the songs sounded powerful. Felder's vocals, on the other hand, did sound enhanced considerably to my ear. I liked the Felder show until he started playing Pride and Joy. Styx still kicks ass live.
Just watching the Felder thing now.
Totally enhanced (as in re-recorded after the fact) vocals, both his and the ridiculously studio harmonies.
Also at the end of Already Gone both him and the Tele dude are shown soloing but you can't hear the Tele--but someone is playing a rhythm guitar.
These things are so fake.
Reminds me of the Bad Company one from Florida a few years ago--what you heard Ralphs playing was not what you were watching--looked like everything had to be fixed in "post."
This stuff is kind of frustrating because it makes it seem like THIS is what the big guys sound like "live" when that couldn't be further from the truth.
If you have ever seen VH1, Behind the Music, Styx, you will know why Shaw and Young will NEVER play Mr Roboto.
How about if you tell us?
the shaw-vs-deyoung stuff starts at about 13 or 14 minutes into it.. the mister roboto stuff gets really interesting about 18minutes in
