Ok... I have several small club gigs coming up and want to complete my pedal board and have room for 1 more pedal. I'll mention that I am very happy with my tone.. especially my lead tone... AND probably should quit while I'm ahead,,,,,

Anyways, we play classic rock and blues... Plus we jam out some tunes and get a little spacey. But I am lacking a Phaser or Vibe or ? Something to add some "color" from time to time. I am using a Blues Jr Amp... Adjusted more on the clean side and here are my pedals.

    1. Tuner (TU2)
    2. Auto Wah (Boss FT2)
    3. OD 1 (OCD)
    4. OD 2 + Boost (Fulldrive 2 Mos)
    5. Delay (DE7)

Please make a suggestion of what pedal I should add (Tremelo, Phaser, Vibe or ?) I'd like to keep it around $100 or so. I am thinking Phase 90.....

Also can anyone advise whether OCD should go before or after the Fulldrive2?

    Thanks!

really - this probably won't fit on your board, but a line6 M9 is what I would suggest.

if you don't like that, I would suggest a mojovibe or comparable vibe pedal that you can control using an expression pedal...

Great suggestions.. But I want to keep this pedal at the $100 price.. Maybe $150.

I guess it comes down to what would be most versitile..

My rig gets the "Classic Rock" tone very well. Stones, Petty, ZZ, Allmans..

trying to choose between .. a Phaser or a Vibe or Tremolo.... or ??
Or would a compressor do anything for me??

Ya... Thanks Jahn....I am kinda leaning that way. Seems like a good choice.

Frankly.. I have never even used a "vibe" before.
I am planning a trip to GC tomorrow to check a few different pedals. I want to narrow it down before I walk in the store.

    Short List
    Phase 90
    Boss TR2 Tremolo

i think that a trem fills a more basic need than a phase 90. I have both and can imagine getting by without the phase 90, but without the trem, no way. a vibe, however is somewhere between the two, so it might be your best bet.

if you're going the phase 90 route, check out the script logo version.

    Good points...

Ok ... great... Are there any decent Vibes in the $100-150 range?? I like the Fulltone brand and have heard great things about their Deja vibe. But they're a bit too much $ .. for me at the moment.

    Thx

I've got the danelectro cool cat vibe which will run you around 50 bucks. there are a couple of problems with it, though. The main one is that there's about a second lag between when you hit the switch and when the effect kicks in. Also, there's a slight volume boost. Thirdly, the pots are in the back- which makes them impossible to tweek in a live setting.

Having said that, the ffect itself does sound pretty darn good for the price.

Do you play much dead? judging by your screen name you might. anyway, if it's jerry you want to sound like, maybe go for the phase 90 after all.

I dig the '74 RI Phase 90 a lot... It's a very usable Phase 90 and it's not too overbearing. It reminds me a lot of the 60's and 70's phases (as it should). Very Gilmour and Thin Lizzy-esque in my opinion.

Cool ... I found some information on Garcia's effects and thought I'd share them here. (from Dozin.com)

    Effects:
Effects used during the early '70's were limited mostly to the Vox wah-wah pedal being occasionally used.
By the late '70's, he was using the Mutron envelope filter (which was used for Estimated, Shakedown, etc.), and he continued to use it until the very end. A Mutron Octive Divider, MXR Distortion +, Phase 100 and Analog Delay.
By the late '80's, his effects consisted of mostly Boss effects: Octave Divider, Turbo Overdrive, Super Overdrive, EQ's, etc. in two effects loops. He also used some extremely expensive Lexicons a PCM-42 or PCM-60, with a PCM-70) reverb/delay units in the rack behind him; these are studio units.
By 1993, he was using these effects, but used a Groove Tube TRIO preamp as well as a Real Tube Reverb unit to go direct to the soundboard, when all of the power amps & speakers were removed from the stage. They used in-the-ear monitors instead of floor monitor wedges.

Looks like I will be picking up a Phase 90 ('74 Reissue) or a Phase 100.

Or... ? Any other Phaser I should consider.
