    Heya! Happy New Year everyone!

I’m looking for suggestions on an overdrive that utilizes assymetrical clipping.

The Boss SD-1 is definitely on my radar, especially with all of the modified versions out there, but I’m also curious about what other options are out there that may have a different or wider eq range.
I’m not frightened by the higher midrange, but it would be nice to have more control over it and the other parameters of the eq without having to put an eq in front of it.

For the record, I don’t post a ton, because I like to read and search for what other people have posted, but I couldn’t find a very extensive list and sadly most pedals don’t advertise which type of clipping they use.

A quick Google search came up with some links, some even back to here.

P.S. the Fulldrive is my favorite.

I'm a huge proponent of asymmetrical clipping for an amp boost. It seems to keep the "teeth" of the amp . . . the TS stuff is just too smooth for my ears. Much of the sound of the higher gain Marshall amp crunch is a highly asymmetric cold biased clipper triode stage and a asym boost seems to enhance that tone.

A modded SD-1 is heard to beat in my opinion. But the FullTone OCD version 1.4 has a darn nice tone. Be sure to get the 1.4 version though - AFAIK the previous versions are all symmetric and a bit too smooth for my ears.

VFE Pale Horse as well as few his others offer both options, some like Pale Horse allow you to blend between them.

The builder hangs out around here at times.
...but these may be out of production... and Ben would shoot me if I caused him extra work.

Maxon SD-9 is good with the gain ramped way back.

Came in here to post exactly this. Most of his offerings have a selector switch to choose asymmetrical clipping as an option.

Also check out the CKK Electronics Anka. High gain by definition, but it rolls back nicely and has ass-clipping as well.

Check out the MXR CBMOD. I love mine and found it when looking for a more versatile SD-1 type.

THiS! It’s fairly bright though - I don’t think it matches well with a Fender blackface. But into a Vox or a Marshall it’s the tits.

I use it with an Allen Encore, which is a tweaked Fender Vibrolux Reverb. Works for me.

Interesting . . . into my Super Reverb I'm not a fan. But different stroke for different folks right? With that being said though I think Marc's stuff is phenomenal - I love me some Skreddy pedals!
