Let me play for you my Suhr strat with the SSC system.
I recorded this by 4 track tape recorder, EQ untouched,
Shure 57. Simple B minor PT.

    My Suhr classic Start,
Maple neck & alder body. V60LP & SSC system.

Amp: Fuchs 50 clean first then OD channel. (Set 9 oclock on OD)

Cabinet: Bob Burt's my signature cab 2 12 with Eminence
Tone Spotter. Smaller size than regular 2 12, more mid focused.

My basement is really noisy for single coils.
You can hear the noise when I pulled switch (no SSC system),
...normal noise that you can hear.(normal strat tone)
On , then off.... I love my Suhr strat with the SSC system!

    Update: 2/20/06

    I added more clips.

My Suhr strat with the SSC system.
Same way to record.... 4 track taperecorder ... no eq touched Shure 57

    Fuchs 50 clean CH (Gain 5, Treble 6, Middle 5 Bass 4, presence 2.5, reverb 2.5)

    Bob Burt's TF signature 2-12 cab(smaller than regular 2-12)

    Eminence 's Tonespotter.

This time I played some blues in Bb. My playing is not so smooth but you can hear
very pure single coil tone. (Sorry I just did quickly played once)

    Clean examples.

Suhr strat SSC system clean tone 1.5
    another take
Suhr strat SSC system clean tone 2.5

Now let's hear some od tone. Fuchs 50 's OD CH (Gain 4 ,2.7)
Suhr strat SSC system OD tone 1.5

I did use the switch on and off (the SSC system), Can you hear the noise? when the SSC system is off. That's typical strat noise.
    Not anymore.

Suhr strat SSC system od tone 3.5 on off

I made more with high gain, different od pedals...
    Would like to hear more?

Sounds really nice Tomo! I have been on the fence about having the SSC put into my Suhr classic strat, but not anymore. I think mine will be making the journey to CA pretty soon for the retrofit!

    Thanks for posting the clips!!

    Steve

PS - Yes, more clips would be great. If you have it, can you post some funk stuff comparing the SSC on/off? I am wondering if you lose some of that crispness with the SSC on.

Very cool :) Was that the back plate version?

Except for demo purposes, I'm wondering why John has an on/off switch? When would you prefer the hum?

Tomo, personally I think you could make a rotten cucumber somehow sound musical :)

I was wondering the same thing, maybe when you get nostalgic for pup hum?
Or are playing in a room with a lot of neon beer signs and want to imitate
a buck rogers death ray? I have the v60lp's on my strat and would really like to know what the back plate installation involves. It sounds like a miracle and I def want to get the modification........

hmm, great sounding pickups and great playing Tomo!! I guess I've been lucky, but most of my strats didn't have that type of hum that you're getting with the SSC in the off position ...

That is amazing, great tone and exceptional playing. Also, on the Berklee 5 week summer performance programs will you be teaching funk/fusion because thats what I have chosen. I hope I get you as a teacher. And I have a question about my audition piece if thats alright just to check if you think it is suitable. Thanks

Thank you Guys for listening these clips.

I just did recording session in NY. LoFo studio. Great sounding room
, but if you have regular strat, you could get hum... especially
overdrive sound. I used to go nuts to find right position (I mean
less hum.) So I felt so comfortable to play at studio.

The bass player was very impressed my Suhr strat tone.
I was very impressed his playing. It was thrilled to play with him.
he is my one of heros! Will Lee!!!

    Tomo,

One interesting thing, in the last OD clip, I actually thought the tone was better, more present with the SSC engaged. Or perhaps the hum was just detracting from the tone, but to my ears noise level aside, it sounded better.

    Thanks for listening!

Tone is same with the SSC in or out. I think I felt better when
I didn't hear the hum. That made me play better?

Tomo-if there is no tone change-why isnt the hum cancelling setting-hard-wired?

Sorry for my late reply. Super late.

I don't know. I think it's better this way for
    checking trouble shoot?

    Thanks,

    Tomo

    Probably good for demonstration too.

I love those clips. Enjoyed hearing them again Tomo!

When I hear you or Josh Smith play, I want to sell all my guitars and just be a roadie. :D

    Thank you so much!

I am glad that you enjoyed listening them.

Wish I have more time to make sound clips. I usually so
after my kids went to bed, later night.

Playing guitar.. that's all I can do. I am working on other things.

Finally I can make my yard looks really good! Actually
I am really into yard work than music. Always studing !

What's new on gears! Any new toy? 65 amps were really
cool amp. Pretty clean even though only 18 watts. I really dig it.
You would like that type of amp.

    Talk to you soon!

    Ugg! I hate yardwork!!!

    :)

I have a new Nick Greer CAM18 amp. I love it! more of it's own sound. Less Marshall or Vox. Just a fantastic amp! I tried the 65 Amps london, not the amp for my taste, but very nice. I still want to add a Fuchs at somepoint!

Look forward to more clips as time permits!

I like the transparency of the Suhr system, I'm debating having one of my strats retrofitted. Though, maybe I would be better off just getting a Suhr..:D

That's a great "Sales Pitch" clip. Made me a believer and will most likely put that system in my strat. Thanks for the info +1 on the tone/chops
