Suhr Reactive Load: Balanced vs. Unbalanced and Mic vs. Line

OK I have my SRL and did some trials and it does sound great but I am a little confused. Hopefully John can pipe in. There was talk about impedance in regards to the recording interface. I read that it is better to use the Line input vs. Mic Input, is this true? I have an xlr to 1/4 inch so I can run it balanced. The other question I have is would it be beneficial to run it into an extrenal mic pre-amp via the mic input or is it best to go with the line input.

No need to use anything else and do not use Mic inputs at all (some interfaces can use XLR and still be line level not Mic). You wont hurt anything but it is too low of an input impedance and will shave off bass
All interfaces are different in their options. Do NOT use a mic input, the impedance is too low.
Use 10K or higher and it really doesn't matter balanced or not unless you are running really long lengths of cable.
You can also use instrument level inputs on something like an Apollo or the 1/4" line in I believe is 10K or the Duet 2 you just use 1/4" and go in to the instrument input. Please check your interface manual, the input impedance is sometimes changed depending on the software settings as well. Also make sure the signal is going 100% through the IR Plug in and be careful about MIX settings in the interface control panel (to make sure you monitor the signal AFTER IR plug in. All the levels will depend on where the amp settings are and how many W the amp is. But don't record too hot with Digital
