"Tactical" must be a great advertising buzzword.

Every other commercial these days, from flashlights and lanterns to sunglasses, everything is Tactical. Do people really fall for this crap? Apparently they do if it's selling.
Just talking to myself I guess.

I’m going to take a tactical guess and say no they don’t fall for it, tactically speaking.

When I hear the word “tactical,” I immediately think of underwear.

To answer the OPs question, I am going to guess that folks who have had legitimate reason to use items that can be legitimately described as tactical (if that is even a valid descriptor) don't fall for the use of the term in marketing. Mall guards and everyone else, who knows?

Those tubes could save your life in a tactical situation.
I mean seriously how many Joe six-pack Boomers find themselves in tactical situations?

    FIFY, in marketing terms.

OP : Different words trigger the same response in different people. Buy.
It could be tactical, green, mojo, luxurious, smart, or haunting mids.
All are trigger words in the consumer economy.
    Nothing more.

I saw one yesterday for a tactical cigarette lighter. WTF?

I guessing the same people that buy that crap also buy all the "survival foods" and the like.

There is a really funny article I am thinking of that, in part, makes fun of someone for carrying a "tactical lighter." I can't post it here because of political content, but the writer ( a veteran) recommends a Bic.

Kevlar chaps? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I own a pair of cowboy boots, but they are not tactical, just animal hide. I guess I'm doomed.
