TC Nova Delay V TC Flashback x4

Digital read out is a massive difference for me.

My good man, if you can actually listen any sonic difference in my Repeater, with it being in or out my signal chain, then you have bat-ears. I understand what you're saying, but my ears cannot tell a thing.

EDIT: Ignore all of the above. I completely misunderstood what you were referring to. Apologies.

This is a question about eyes, not ears: Digital read-out=display. :)

Oh dear!!! Hahahaha. All good.

Yes I meant I use it with my eyes. Relying on tempo setting, and also knob settings by using the digital readout. In saying that I hardly use the nova, it's on my rehearsal board. Lol

I own both the Nova iB and a Repeater plus I have owned a Flashback in the past. IMHO the TCE delays share much of the same sound qualities, but each has their own thing going on. I like the presets in my nova and like how you can switch between two sounds in the iB within one song. The down side of the x4 for me is the size... That is a lot of pedalboard space. I think I will stay where I am right now.

I love my Nova for the digital readout as well. The band I play in currently is a PF tribute and being able to dial in exactly 450ms is a must for certain types of songs that have signature delay times. You get the best of both worlds because you still use a knob (rotary encoder) to dial things in (versus a D pad or potentiometer) but the readout lets you know exactly what you dialing in.

The Nova digitizes the dry path. The original Flashback doesn't, not certain about the X4.

This is what I'd be affraid of. I like the idea of the presets with the Nova but couldn't live with altered tone. I currently use a Trex Replica in my loop and it sounds fantastic. I'm looking for something with Tap Tempo and presets.

How about the Flashback X4 vs the Nova System delays vs the Nova Delay vs the Repeater?

I have had a Nova System for a while, previously had a Nova Delay. I sold the Nova Delay when I got a Strymon Timeline but replaced that with the Nova System. The Nova System lets me dial in the many parameters that I like, especially on the Dynamic Delay.

The Nova System seems to possibly brighten up the tone slightly, hard to tell really. The Flashback seems to add some bass to the signal.

The problem with the Flashback is that if you want to tweak a preset, how do you know where to start the control knobs? You have 3 presets and you need to fiddle the knobs to set each one right. So suppose you have preset A that you want to tweak after you have set preset C. Well the knobs have all been twiddled for C so how do you know where the starting point for the knobs should be if you want to tweak A? On the Nova Drive the LED would flash when you crossed the setting on a preset when moving a knob. Would it have broken the bank to put the LED's on there on the Flashback? Am I missing something on how this is tracked?

The other big plus on the Nova System is the pitch block, but that's off topic I suppose.

It would be nice to have a matrix of specs and features to compare the several TC delays!
