I would like to add a Tele to my arsenal. Yes, I would prefer it to say Fender. I have 2 Warmoth Strats because I can't get a factory Strat that I like as far as combination of features and a large enough neck. I would rather just find a guitar that's ready to go instead of doing another build. There are some songs that the tone would fit better than anything I currently own. So, here are my requirements:

    Natural Ash or Butterscotch
    Maple fingerboard
    Stays in tune
"Normal" Tele pups (no humbucker in this one please)
    BIG, ROUND neck
    1 11/16" nut width-I can't do the 1 5/8"
    Under $1000

    Thank you!

    Mark

used 52ri...it has a decent size neck, not as fat as a Nocaster though...Im not sure about the nut width.

+1 on used 52RI, one made after late '98. Big neck for a stock Tele, nice guitars overall. Another very similar in feel IMO is the Classic '50s, available used for way below $1000, even new are less than that. I owned both & sold 'em because I like slimmer contour necks.

But I think the standard Tele neck on most models, inc. the '52 RI, is more like 1 5/8", not 1 11/16".

See if the Fender site lists nut widths?

After market necks are likely available as you want but won't have a Fender decal as supplied.
