Quick and dirty clip of some tele rhythm playing through a deluxe reverb. Guitar is a homebrew 50's blackguard( light swamp ash, stock Fralin bridge pickup, maple board). Amp is a 68 DR that I bought in real rough shape a while back and had rebuilt. Mine is set up for headroom: GZ34 rectifier and Weber California 12. Vibrato channel used with Vol=4.5, Treble=4.5, Bass=5, light reverb and trem. SM57 stuck off axis about 10 inches in front of the amp.

Thanks for the thumbs up, guys. Yep, she's definitely a classic. Over the last 5 years or so I've had a Brown 62 Deluxe, 67 Blackface Vibrolux Reverb, 62 Brown Tremolux top, 70's Pro reverb, a couple of other DR's and a tweed bassman homebrew and this is just my 'go to' Fender amp for virtually every situation.

very nice, that is the fender tone I dig! you get a lot more headroom with the California?

Yeah, the Cali gives up a lot of headroom as well as an extra 3-D quality. Mine has the big , oversized paper dustcap and has been getting pounded hard for a couple of years and it really makes this amp come alive. I like bright caps in /Fender amps and the Cali lets that sparkle come through without killing.... makes the amp handle overdrive pedals well, too. Of course, I've got the rig set up fairly 'hi-fi' for a Deluxe and I have to be careful not to let too much crispy pile up between the guitar, pedal(s) used and the amp settings.
